follow the amber lights

things left unsaid

Photograph the places marked by amber lights. Get close; keep them in the frame.

The laundrette, north from the shelter. An open door on the left.
The telephone, across the first intersection. On the right sidewalk.
The platform, west along Mercy Street. Follow the closed shutters.

Then return to the bus shelter where you arrived.

Sometimes I think someone is waiting at the crossing.

a light across the avenue

The Night Window diner is across from the shelter. Someone left a message on the counter. There is no hurry.

The unsent letter is still on the diner table.

There is a little room in your pockets.

the city remembers

Ring the intercom beside the laundrette. Visit Last Picture, west along the next street. Mercy Cemetery is west of the low railway, through the open gate on the next block north. The low railway passage is southwest of the platform. Sit at a park bench or the diner window and let a little time pass.

Small objects can travel with you. Their notes say where you might leave them. There is no need to collect everything. Bell & Daughter groceries are beside the shelter. The Orpheum is opposite the laundrette. The hall is across from Last Picture. The library returns and Mercy Court stairwell are north along the avenue. The canal footbridge is far east along the street through the shelter. South of the hall, visit Mercy Baths, then the greenhouse across the avenue. Night Signal and a warm study room are opposite the greenhouse. The post office and darkroom are north of Last Picture; the old school is west of it.
